| If you don't have a temp controller, I'd stick to Visi-Therm heaters. They have a thicker glass so they don't break very easy and they are probably the most reliable brand for glass heaters. Ebo Jager heaters are pretty good as well. Also, if you get two smaller heaters, you don't need to worry as much about the problems that can be caused if a heater gets stuck on or off. I'd recommend 2-150w heaters.

| I have been down the glass heater road. This is what I went to a couple months ago when suggested to me by a coral farmer in Knoxville Tenn. Pro-Heat Titanium IC Heaters |
| ||||
| The Won Bros titanium heaters are the best titanium heaters you can get, as long as you get the version with the knob and not the digital version. I've been told that a lot of people have problems with the digital version. Personally, I've only had one glass heater break in the past 7 years, out of the 7 heaters I have installed at all times so having glass heaters doesn't bother me.

| I can tell you one NOT to get. Don't get any of the Theo heaters. I had a brand new one running in my 90 for less than 2 weeks before it locked on and stayed on all the time. Thank goodness I got the 300W intead of the 400, or I would have had Cichlid stew in my tank. I replaced it with an Ebo-Jaeger I had running in my 55 for a decade. No problems. So, I definitely recommend the Ebo's |

| I have had a stealth heater malfunction and stayed on till everything in my BC 14 died. 98 degrees is a bit warm for fish and corals. Heater just didn't know what it was doing. Go Ebo Jager or get a titanium heater. |

| I've been through many heaters trying to raise clown fish and as you can imagine larval fish are more temperature sensitive. Ebo Jaeger is definately the way to go in my opinion, but thats just my opinion. Make sure you check your temp with a glass floating thermometer as opposed to a digital to get a better idea of what the temp really is. Those digital thermos can be off quite a bit. I still use a stealth in my 12G nanno but after reading Jon's post, I'm on my way to the LFS to buy another Ebo. Thanks for the heads up on the stealth. | Yea my stealth is the first one I have heard of over heating a tank. I might go Ebo Jager or I might go won bros titanium heaters. I will be restarting my BC14 soon so modding is going to happen first. |
