Default Re: sump question

To answer your questions yes and yes. About the overflow box, you can buy a drill bit off of eBay for around 13 dollars and drill the tank yourself, and that would be cheaper than buying the overflow box and the AQUALIFTER pump that you will need for it.

Tom Aquatics Aqua Lifter—Dosing Pump (Saltwater Aquarium Supplies > Overflow Box > Accessories )

It is pretty much just a safety pump to make sure that the syphon stays intact.

As for the sump, go to Melevsreef.com - Welcome! and just look around. You can go buy a tank, or find a used one which is a better move, get some silicone(aquarium grade), and make your own sump for a fraction of the cost. What you have will work, but it will cost about 5 times what it should.
