Default Water circulation?

A quick question, if you'd please.
I have a 75g gallon tank, and my water circulation consists of a maxi jet 900 and 1200, along with the circulation being pushed by my rena filstar xp3 canister filter output. However, my tank does seem to have some dead spots, that just can't seem to be fixed.
I was wondering if investing in some hydor koralia 400 or 600gph powerheads would be worthwhile? Is there such thing as too much water flow (pressure) in a 75 gallon tank? I don't want to cause so much flow that my sand bed decides to get stirred up and takes off either Any help on this matter is appreciated.

Thanks again!, Phayes.

Depending on what you want to keep you are probably looking for somewhere in the neighborhood of around 2250gph for your tank. That would be around 30x. If you were to get maybe 3 of the 400's or 2 of the 600's along with what you have already, you would have some very nice flow and probably no dead spots depending on how you set them up.

As for too much pressure, the tank will hold it. They are almost all over engineered. And if you have ever been in the ocean and felt the current you will know that the fish love it.Some people that keep the hardcore corals have 50x their tank volume per hour being pumped.

Koralia pumps push a lot of water, but the flow isn't strong. I think most people that have them would recommend that a 75 gal tank has a minimum of 2-K3 (850gph) pumps. Some people would recommend 3-K4 (1,2000 gph) pumps in a 75 gal tank. Use the Koralia pumps for the main flow in the tank and the Maxijets in the areas where you need to pinpoint the circulation.

Here's a few other people's comments that took place recently regarding Koralia recommendation in a 75 gal tank.

I have 2 hydor koralia 4's in my 90 gallon. Plus my return circulating the water. There is alot of movement in my tank it take about 15 minutes to configure both heads on each side of the tank and positioning each 1 just right. They never stir up the bed and give me great flow. They now come with an attachment for the water flow which I dont use. They push water in 2 different directions when on so there are 2 steams of water from each head( unless you use the attachment) works great for me..

Instead of adding 2 more powerheads try getting the MJ mod for your maxi jets. That will give you a lot more flow and not add anymore powerheads in your tank.
