Default RO/DI Filter, what a pain in the arse

So I thought would be responsible. I installed a 10 GPD RO/DI filter from GE. That little faucet is a pain in the butt. I had to make up a tubing line to fill my 5 gallon jugs & it will fill one about half way until the tank is drained. Being in Alaska, an RO filter is good for .5 of the stated capacity because the ground water is so cold. So it looks like I need to fill the jug once every 3 days to keep up with evaporation & water changes in my 135 gal.

I hope that is a typo. 10gal per day and you will be running that unit constantly.

I think it's more of a drinking water setup but it's was in the right price range $175. I figure I'm going to have to fill half a 5 gallon jug every other day to geep up with the demand, maybe a little more, I baseing that off 1 gallon a day evaporation + 20% water change once a month.

I Just stick a tube over the end of the faucet and run it into 1 of my 2 20 Gal pales and just let it run. You might want to try it. You would be surprized how quickly you can collect the water if you don't have to consantly monitor it.

Well, after playing with it the last couple days, it looks like I can drain the storage tank every 3 - 4 hours & it holds 3 gallons. Any more & I'll need a bigger tank. I think it will work for what I need. Nobody said reef keeping would be easy right?
