Default New Lights...

Hello Everyone...I think it is time for me to get some new metal halide's...i was wondering if anyone knew of a cheap, realiable place to get some. Also I am thinking of switching to 15k...I have 20K now and my coral's aren't growing as fast as i would like...what are your opinions on that idea? I know it will create more algae as well, but that might be good as well, because I have like none and my tangs are hungry

Thanks for your time!

Dan

Try either

ReefGeek > Aquarium Supplies for Marine, Reef, and Saltwater Aquariums
DIYReef.com Reef Aquarium Lighting and Supplies

Both are really reliable and have great customer service.

Don't really know. I use T-5's rather than MH's. You might want to talk to the people at either of the above establishments. They may be able to guide you on bulb choices.

My corals, both SPS and LPS, do great. Some species of corals grow slowly to begin with. not to mention making sure Ca, Mg and Alk are all optimal.

well I have a 110g, really want to convert to reef, I have done my own research and for my size tank it comes out to be 2 MH 250 watts and they are 10k, I am anxious to post some pics, tanks just not worthy of competing with some that I have seen on here, hopefully.........soon

That is what I have 2 250 watt mh, but I am just wandering about brands and spectrum....you are going with 10k...are you not worried about excessive algae growth?

Thanks
Dan

I have 2 250 MH on my 120. I'm running 14k Pheonix DE bulbs in mine with no actinic supplements and really like the color. A little blue, but not overly blue.
