How many lights?

Hi
I have been keeping a marine tank for quite a few years now, but I am about to upgrade from a 48" tank to a 6ft 6" x 2ft x 2ft tank.
As part of the upgrade I am switching from fluorescents to metal halides. Is it better to have one or two high power metal halides or are a larger number of lower power units better?
I would think that you would get better light distribution with more units and could maybe phase the start up so as not to shock the coral or fish so much but is there any other advantages/ disadvantages.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Any Direct Current Sump Pumps?

I'd like a direct current sump pump. I'd like a smaller pump to back up with relay and to large amp hour marine battery.

Secondly I'd like to add some oscillation by alternating flow. There are DC power head I know off and own.

Are any pumps available in any price range?

Any advice on using this device. I have read online that it tends to gum up. Is this a common problem? Would usng water from the sump reduce the occurence of such a problem? Any pointers would be appreciated.
