If you are getting into rotifers and planning on breeding fish. You should grow your own cultures of phyto. It is very easy to do. Just go to

Melevsreef.com - Phytoplankton

He has very good basic instructions on getting started. I used this for getting started making alterations to his design where I saw improvments could be made.

Happy Culturing!

I use reed mariculture instant algae to culture and sustain my rotifer cultures and then gut load the rotifers with live tetraselmis, nannochlorops is and tricomutum 1 to 2 hours before feeding them to my larvae. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hey Adam,
If your using rotifers to feed oscellaris larvae you're are on the wrong track! They are not large enough to sustain them. I have been using L type rotifers and have had up to 99% success rate. I may try using S type to feed my mandarin babies but I'm not sure if they are even a marine strain! Good luck.

I recently inquired about S type rotifers and they are salt water organisms however they are praobably too small to sustain oscellaris larvae.
