Default Is it hard to breed fish?

I have bred dogs and birds. I cannot say I'm an expert because I don't breed professionally. I find it very fulfilling.

Are there any fish breeders here?

It all depends on what type of fish. Some fish are fairly easy to breed in captive SW tanks, and some are impossible/never been known to. Probably the most known about fish for breeding is the clown fish. If you want to breed fish, try starting there .

Banggai (sp) are not very hard to breed. The eggs are mouth bred by the male and are big enough to feed freshly hatched brine shrimp eggs at birth. My clowns frequently lay eggs, but all 3 pairs are in different reef tanks. The fry never survive after birth because they are eaten or pulled down the sump (for some reason that's where my clowns place the eggs - never on the rocks or hairy mushrooms or anemones.

Clown fish are fun to breed. I'm also breeding mandarins but I'm unable to find anyone who has had any success rearing them. When clownfish are born, they swim to the surface and must be removed immediately and put into a seperate tank. You must be there for the hatch. The hatch will usually occur three days after the eggs turn silvery, one hour after lights out.

If you had a nano tank with just the mated pair of clownfish would you also have to immediately remove the freshly hatched eggs?
