Yeah, I just happened to be up that night and saw him swimming around. Of course I had to grab my camera and get a shot. When I went to get a net to put him in the sump he was gone . I didn't even get a chance to name him...mini b.b. sounded good too.

The fuge area in my sump is the only place I have that I could put him in...otherwise it would become a snack for the other fish.

Here's a few pic's of what I'm talking about.

I like that Fuge! Could you explain how it works. Do you not have any rock rubble?

Thanks,
It'd basically a 40 aga(that I bought from a garage sale for 10 bucks); 4 glass baffles (I had cut to size and polished the edges at the glass shop); and a tube of silicone (I got fron the hardware store).

Basically how it works (right to left)
1. The water from the overflow enters.
2. It goes over and under 3 baffles (to diffuse micro bubbles).
3. It enters the fuge area (which has rock rubble & cheato).
4. It enters the return area back into the dt.

Checkout the model I used over at Melevsreef.com - Welcome!.

It took about half and hour to do the project...and voila !...a custom sump for under 50 bucks.

Hope this helped !

Thank you for explaining. This is what I am working towards.

Isn't the rock rubble typically in the right-most section (the first section).

How hard was it to get the 40 gallon under the 75 gallon cabinet? Did you have to go through the back?

I think it depends on how you want to set up your sump. Some people will use rubble rock to help diffuse the micro bubbles coming from the overflow. You can do that, but it can be hard to get out if the space is tight. That's why I used baffles to diffuse the micro bubbles. Also, I wanted to have the largest refugium possible.

Since the stand I bought was custom made, the top actually comes off. I just dropped it in and still have space to store some tools, etc.

The great thing about sumps is that you can get very creative.
