Yes, beauty and form are asthetic qualities to be admired.
However, my 11 year old son looks for the most unusual, dazzling, and dangerous looking. He also loves the more savage they eat. He loves wierd looking lizards, alligators, dinosaurs, spikey cactus, and dangerous looking fish. Thus he loves the warty frogfish, the stonefish and lion fish. His 55 gal salt tank has 1 lionfish, 1 spotted grouper, and 1 freckled hawfish. They all eat voraciously. He loves feeding time. Also he loves to dazzle his new friends with the shock value of aggressive fish.
I on the other hand, look for campatibility and peace loving. Yes, beauty is important., but if if came down to living with an ugly, peaceful person, or a beautiful contankerous person who turned the house upside down, I would take the peaceful, ugly.
