Default spotted Kole tang

i have my spotted kole tang that looks like it has lost all of its color/skin and looks horrible fins are in bad shape and i also have a royal gramma that is starting to lose color and excessive mucus. Both are flashing. Have them both QT but i have a six line and a cinnamon clown that are just fine. it was a feat to get just the two (kole and gramma) out. its a reef tank so i have ALOT of rock work. can i just treat, the two in QT, with a copper? or should i take apart my whole reef to get the other two? lastly is hyposalinty a broad spectrum fix for diseases? i rather go that route instead of copper.

I have never had good luck with kole tangs. They seem to get sick very easily.I love them, just never been lucky, had 3 at different times and they all got sick. Also do your six line and grama get along well?Anyway just keep them both in QT and I would try the copper.

I've had good luck with Kole tangs. Before you use any treatment method or can determine if you need to remove the other fish, you need to determine what disease they have, if any. The excess slime and loss of color could very well indicate that there is something wrong with your tank's water quality. Hyposalinity is NOT a broad spectrum treatment.

well water should be fine. I have an aray of corals, and they seem to give me the first indication of something is wrong. I will check when I get home. Secondly i lost both the gramma and the tang last night. well i will keep my eye on the sixline and the clown. What i noticed about the tang is that the fins were in bad shape. fin rot? I have been in the hobby for a while and i have never seen anything like this.

I had something similiar happen to my kole tang and it was because of a nitrate spike. Did you test the water?
