Default My Tang Died....

I woke up this morning and found my tang dead.
I had her in the qt for a week(I know too short) And then at around day six she started breathing much faster than usual. I immediately thought that she wasn't getting enough oxygen and i jumped to conclusions and acclimated her to the display tank. Which was a stupid mistake because heavy breathing could be a symptom of a deseise. When i put here in the Display tank after a day some fin rot showed up witch i didn't understand because last time i checked my conditions where ideal.
So this morning i tested my water and it read:
Ammonia: 0.00 ppm Nitrite: 0.00 ppm Nitrate: 0.00 ppm

Unfortunately 90%of fish deaths are caused by the Aquarist...
What did i do that caused its death?
Obviously I needed to keep him in the qt longer but did she catch something?

Lets look at your QT tank before blaming your display tank.

Running a succuessful QT requires pretty close supervision. Keeping the water oxygenated, Ph stable and water without higher levels of nitrates.

Do you have a power head running in the QT. I personally use a little fluval 2 cannister filter. I can run media if I choose or just run charcoal If not medicating anything. I also do 10% water changes daily or every other day depending on whats in the QT. When running QT for illness I use the water from the DT for the waterchanges.

Dont beat yourself up this is a learning experience for all of us.

Sorry for your loss
