Default Zebra Moray?? ICH??

well, i have a zebra moray in my reef tank, and i noticed the other day that my yellow tang has ich, hes still eating like a champ, and just as active as always, but he is scratching, and has a few small white spots on his fins. Well he is slowly losing the white spots, but I am still debateing pulling everything out, treating them all, and leaving them out for 6 weeks.. my question is, Can a zebra moray get ich? and should i pull him out for the 6 weeks? or can the ich even get on him at all?

Althought they are pretty resistant, eels can get ich. I would get him out of there at all possible.

So heres the big question,, If everything is doing good and the signs start to go away should i still treat for ich? Because i am about to start building a 240 gallon system, and i am planning on adding 2 more tangs. and i dont want them to get ich because they might not get over the ich as easy? But i dont really want to put the fish through all the stress of qting them and everything?

Even if the ich starts to go away on the fish, it doesn't mean that the fish doesn't still have it, the ich is just in a dormant stage. The only way to rid your tank and fish of ich is to take them all out and quarantine them. Believe me, I didn't take the precaution of QTing any of my fish and now I am in the middle of a process of jamming all my fish (including 5 tangs) into a 20 gallon aquarium for hyposalinity because I had an ich outbreak. I am about 3 weeks in.

Especially if you are adding tangs, it is likely they, and your current fish will be temporarily stressed and could get the ich on them. So my best advice is to bite the bullet and quarantine everything or it could hurt you later.

Peace, Poppinthekap

Eels can tolerate copper treatments as long as the copper concentration in your tank stays within the recommended therapeutic dose. The eel will most likely stop feeding during the duration of the treatment and for a few days afterwards.

To use copper within any eel tank system is a very bad idea.
