my emperor angel scraped himself up pretty good on his left side on the live rock yesterday, is there any concerns or anything i could do to make sure he heals up alright and doesnt get any infection?

I'd probably just leave him alone and keep an eye on him, fish are pretty resilient. If he looks like he's having problems, get him into a QT and treat with antibiotics. I read an article once that said to discourage aggression in large angels and keep them emotionally healthy you should hang a mirror on the side of your tank about once a month and let him target his aggression toward the imagined intruder. I did this and scared my emperor so badly that he bolted through the rockwork and came out looking like he'd been in a car wreck. I felt awful, but he healed up okay and since then seems to be emotionally healthy without having to drive any intruders away from his territory. Guess you can't believe everything you read. Good luck with him.

My Coral Beauty had a very deep gash in the side of his body once I was worried that he would die, but healed up nicely. I did not treat him.
