Default Help with Yellow Tang

HI there,
we just returned from a week vacation and left our adult daughter in charge of our tank. Well one of the yellow tangs now has big white hunks on it. I will take a picture as soon as I can tonight, but I thought I might get a idea. These are not spots, or small, they look like hunks of salt. They are WHITE!~

Thanks for any help. Pictures soon!
Kathy

The white, fluffy, cotton like material on your fish is probably a fungal growth. These growths are usually caused by poor water quality combined with a weak and/or stressed fish.
Once you follow the steps to cure the fungus, prevention procedures are easy and should be followed as a part of your tank maintenance program.

Here are the pictures.

These were fine last Thursday, there were three but the first night we were gone one was sucked up by the powerhead. The big flat surface of their bodies made it possible for them to get into the area. We are changing that today!

Thanks for the help! What meds???
Kathy

looks like a fungal infection. Im not sure what meds to use though, never had the problem. look at Pet Supplies, Dog Supplies, Cat Supplies, Pet Meds & Pet Products: Drs. Foster & Smith Pet Supplies and check out some of their meds they have.

try maroxy by mardel. you should be able to get it at your local petsmart or petco. i would try petsmart first. before you treat your tank, move the fish to a QT tank. if you treat your main tank, you risk killing corals and inverts if you have any!
