Status of Fish? How are you treating? What is currently in the tank? What is Tank size and filtration used? Water parameters? Looks like ICH or Oodium there are a number of ways to treat but we need more info do you have a QT tank?

Do you have particulate blowing around in your tank a little bit? Do the little white spots change from day to day?

Nice looking Tang and Foxface by the way!

My foxface looks the same way. I am treating him for ich. How long does it take before you see an improvement? I know the treatment says 2 weeks. This is my first experience with ich and my question is we treat the fish in qt and he is fine. How long do I leave the main tank alone before adding the foxface back or add anyone new? Should the main tank be wateched for a month or so? My water was fine on Sat when I did a water change and he got sick yesterday.

The lfs told me to lower the salinity in the main tank to 1.020 and bump up the temp to 82-83 to help get rid of the ich if it's still in the main tank. And they said feed the tank food soaked in garlic. Any truth to what they told me? My temp was 79 and the salinity was 1.024 and ammonia, nitrite and nitrate were 0. PH was 8.1.

Thanks for any input.

For me, I leave my fish in the QT/hospital tank until 2 weeks after the initial ich outbreak is over and there are no more symptoms. Which means: fish are eating, no cysts, no heavy respirating, no signs of illness.

As far as the main tank, if you need to leave it fallow, it will be 6 weeks before tossing your fish back in from QT. All new fish need to sit in QT for at least 3 weeks without signs of illness...some say longer.

My foxface and coral beauty are doing fine. Still spotty but the spots seems to be getting smaller. I lost a highhat and 2 red spotted hawkfish so far. The other two fish in the tank are not showing any symptoms of ich.

Sorry to hear about your loss. The fish I lost came with the tank so I wasn't that attached to them since I have only had them a few weeks but I am bummed about leaving my tank alone and emptier for 6 weeks while it cycles thru. Can I turn the skimmer back on after the two week treatment?

well it seems to be some sort of plague taking place in the tank...my water tests fine on all levels... but my coral beauty appears to be on the way out...also my clown trigger has lost movement in two of his fins and is on the way out...my corals are shrinking and look terrible ( I know corals and clown tirgger dont mix but hes a baby and im raising him to bigger for sale back like a foster home..my lfs allows me to take babys in mature them a bit and sell them back for more so i turn a profit and he does as well)

Another reminder that everyone should have a quarantine tank and use it. It should prevent outbreaks in the first place and in the case it doesn't you have a hospital tank.

I hate to be hard on anyone but You say you did what you could. You posted Questions here! We could have helped more! 6 days later we have many casualties. Did you check back to see or just ignored the questions. Treating fish is complicated and knowledge of a system and a means to a treatment may have saved your loss. I am sorry, if you post a question and in response it needs an answer to help you. In my eyes you did not do all you could except watch the animals die.

And I just read that i supposedly watched my fish die...I have been to close 10 fish stores up to 20 miles away...only one fish has died in my tank...all others have died in lfs in qt tanks that i paid for hospitality since i was unable to accomidate here...I've done what I can I asked my questions and trusted the experts to help and I did treat som here so perhaps the hobby isnt for me

Yep this hobby takes an emergency fund of its own. Worse than a college fund for the tank on a good day. You were at a disadvantage not being able to see your fish start to get sick when they were ill. It could have helped with your treatment. I'm not certain how QT at an LFS works. Are you able to bring in your own meds vs use what the LFS says they use? I couldn't care less about what my LFS uses or claims to use to make a few bucks.

the way my lfs does it for me I know the guy well and i basically paid for the treatment supplements and I had my ill fish placed into a few tanks he wasnt using and used them as qt tanks.. I paid for the supplements and he administered while i was at work and without my own personal qt tank..Im working on getting my own qt tank its just a matter of room and funds to do it right..(right equipment and proper tank size and such)
