I bought this fish last friday. The fish had signs of Ich so I put it Q.T. I have treated for the Ich and now I have noticed holes in her tail.Does anyone know what this might be a sign of? ![]()

Unless its the camera the color on that CB is way off too. MMMM...looks awful. Was it like this when you bought it? ![]()

I treated the ich with Organi Cure. 10 drops per 10 gallons and another dose 24 hours later. The CB has been in the QT since last Saturday. I have done 2 water changes in the QT and was going to treat the tail with Maracyn. The fiishes color is good just a bad pic. Nothing in the QT but a piece of pvc a heater and hang on back filter.

There was only one small hole in the tail when I bought the fish. I did not think anything of it . I noticed another hole on Monday and more yesterday!

Hopefully this will turn out for the better, but you ever see this again...the fish stays at the LFS! At least it is in QT and not in the main display. Make sure when you do the water changes, you only use water that has been prepped for at least 24 hours to ensure stability. If you are not using a garlic supplement, this is a good time to start. I use Kent's Garlic Extreme. Some use Garlic Guard (sometimes more readily available at places like Petsmart) and some people take the time to crush their own. You will also want to look into a vitamin supplement. I use Kent Zoe, but I know there are others out there. My first thought was injury. Now that you are saying that the holes are multiplying, I'm thinking otherwise. Normally, when I look at fin or tail rot, I see fraying, not punctures...BUT I am not an expert. I would use maracyn as a treatment, plus the enhancement in the diet. If you can, check your water parameters. QT parameters can be worse than the main tank, but it can still can cause an adverse reaction in a fish. Watch for any indentations, or ulcerations, around the eyes.

I hope thing improve, keep in there ![]()

This has happen to me before. I belive it could be that the fish damage their skin and fins scratching against objects in the tank to get some relief of their itchy parasites. I use stress coat with my meds to help the fish heal their wounds.

If it is a wound doesn't either Melafix or Pimafix act like a band-aid? I don't remember which one.
