| What is the Temperature of your tank? I can see all the ick on his tail. I read something about raising the temperature shortens the life of ick. |
| ||||

| I really Don't know but you dont what to boil your fish. lol, ![]() In freshwater when fish get ick, you are supose to raise the temperature up to 84 and do a 25% water change daily but this isnt freshwater and i dont think it is the same type of ick. Ohh and by the way, Dont let it spread any more than it has already. If a single fish gets too many IT will die!! Ask nativeman, hes like a grampa, there is nothing he cant answer. ![]() |

| some fish are atracted to ick more than others. Like i know tangs are really vulnerable to ick. I think Ick feeds on their blood, am I right? |

Be nice to have a better pic |

| After looking at that video again last night the spots are to large and not very well defined like ich is.Like Mario said I am old with tired eyes that only focus well on the ladies lol. |
| ||||
| Hmmm, I did see the dots, that did look like ich. I had to play and pause and play and pause. I saw heavy respiration, but that could be because of the rate at which it was swimming. I think we could use a much better picture either way to be sure. I'm glad if you have it in QT. Watch your other fish in the tank. I would not raise the temp. I think the place to do that safely is in QT. Some fish will not handle a raise in temp. Inverts will probably find it displeasing as well. I want you to browse this, see if it holds true for your fish. They are not so forthcoming on treatment, but I think many of us would start by using copper. AmylloodiniumArt I had it. I had to use formalin3. It was at that same time I bought the UV sterilizer and had to leave the tank fallow for 6 weeks. Not someplace you want to be, can be more harmful than good...which is why everyone needs a good QT period prior to being added to the tank. It is so much easier to treat and possibly lose, one fish than a whole tank. See if you can get us a better pic so that we can help you narrow it down. I'm moving this to disease treatment forum, so that you be seen at my usual "office". lol |
| ||||
| ha ha ha The doctor is in.Pete wait till you get the bill for this one lol. |
| ||||
| from what i can see the dots are really big and only on the tail and theres only 2 spots on its body would this still be ich i hear theres a few more parasites that look just like ich and theres tell tale ways to sort this out

| Ich can be on the body, it is not restricted to fins. More for you: IchArtMar How is the fish behaving? Fast respiration, even when resting? Swimming? Eating? Lethargic? Have you started any treatment yet? I would suggest adding a vitamin supplement and garlic to the diet. A lot of the time, you'll find that no matter what, treatment is pretty much the same. With any fish, you will want to check the treatment with the fish. Google is good for that...and then read some of the forums at Wet Web Media. No one wants to misdiagnose, which is why you are not getting a straight answer. Does your fish look like he has a dust coat on him, especially along his back? Diseases like velvet and brooklynella are fast and furious killers without treatment and a good eye. If you can rule those out, we can probably keep things basic. If the fish is breathing ok and eating well, I would want to keep treatment basic. Do the cysts look like the ich pictures provided in the links given or are they fluffy tufts, like little cotton balls? This is what I would do, assuming we are not looking at fungus. In QT, if you haven't dosed with copper recently, the fish is swimming, eating and not respirating like crazy, you can try half dosing with copper and enhance the diet with vitamins and garlic. Petsmart or Petco, probably has a garlic supplement like Garlicguard and maybe Kent's Zoe...or you could start calling the LFS if they are open. You could always get creative and start crushing cloves yourself to soak your food in. You could start a hyposalinity treatment. And try not to panic. Do not add more than one med in the QT tank. Understand that your fish can look the way he is looking for a good week before you start seeing an improvement in appearance. |

| yes hes in a QT tank and im treating him as we speak he should be alright in a few weeks from what im told by my brother thanks for your fast help you guys
