Would my corals and anemone be ok if I keep the display tank at 85F for 31 days.

Maybe. 83-84 degrees is the highest I ever want to be. I've seen plenty of soft corals get stressed out and SPS corals get RTN and die at 84. Anemones may start to loose their zooplankton at 84 degrees and start turning white or transparent. If you want to get rid of ich, I'd suggest that you quarantine your fish for 6 weeks BEYOND when you last see signs of ich on your fish and leave your DT fallow at 82-83 degrees during that time.

I understand not wanting to transfer fish multiple times, but would it not be wise to quarentine or treat the new specimen before putting it in your display, just to rid the fish of possible ich?

That is a very common practice and very advisable. I personally do it and so do some others posting in this thread.

The only thing I think this article leaves out that is of importance is the use of hyposalinity in a QT for the irradication of Ich. I personally do not like copper treatments unless the species of fish Im putting in the display is a bad candidate for hyposalinity. Then again running hypo is a little more difficult than dosing copper and may not be for everyone.

Im very much considering doing another 15 or 20 gal strictly for this, and for quarantining (quarantinis anyone..sorry bad scrubs refrence) should I run the same setup with live sand live rock and should I keep a clean up crew in there since it wont house fish much?

Quarantine

Always check the RB library. Most basic info can be found there pretty easy.

You can also scroll down to the bottom of this page and see related posts. This also a great tool for research.

No sand No LR and No other critters. Just find some of the pics around here of QT and you will see they are really not much. Im into mine for bout $70.00.

Drop the SG slowly over a 3-4 day period. I just changed 1/2 gal of water a day out with fresh ro water no salt added to it. My QT is a file folder box from Office depot. The biggest and hardest thing for me was not maintaining the sg which you need to keep very close eye on, but maintaing a reasonable level of Ph without big swings. Hypo IMO is agreat way to go if the species of fish can take it. Its a lot of work though and a refractometer is an absolute must.

Brian aka Pogodzib was the first person to tell me about this treatment and gave me this link almost a year ago. It is what I based all my Hypo procedures on. I ran every fish I have through hypo. Knock on wood...no ich yet. I am a believer at this point.

I would follow directions for hypo to the letter and raise and lower SG slowly over days.

Brian might have some good insight to hypo treatment as well as I have only copied what he does.
