| So it is still there? If you QTed then you really wouldn't have much to worry about. Dip wouldn't hurt, but if you really don't think it is much of anything you could just observe the fish for a few days.

| Here's the issue at full.. I bought a gramma the other day. Day 2 ick showed up heavily on it.. I literally had to empty my tank of all LR to catch it. During that time i accidently killed my goby.. Now the MI is in my tank, the only thing a FW dip will do is release the eggs in the FW, I am still stuck with the damn ick lol.. I hope someone someday will introduce a proven method for this parasite in a reef enviroment. I need to start going with the quarantine method, but i dont think i will introduce another fish for the next year. According to this read Marine Ich - Myths and Facts - Reef Sanctuary MI will run itself out in 11 months or so?? What a pain in the ass ![]()

| There is a good method...and now that you have ich in the display tank, you need to be ready to work. Step 1: Set up QT Step 2: "Everyone out of the pool" Step 3: Hopefully all fish can handle a good copper treatment now that the goby is gone Step 4: DT remains fallow for 6 weeks. Step 5: No fish goes into that display tank without being in QT for at least a few weeks disease free.

| <====Looks at Becky *sighs* we need something in the Lib. about a QT setup... On another note IF you wanted to add fish to your DT before 11 months is up my suggestion for you is one of the following. 1) Do yourself a favor and get some sort of cleaner shirmp/wrasse...they literally feed on diseases 2) Do what I plan on doing and get a UV sterizer....or better still an Ozone thing a ma jiggy (oh how technical can I be) I think it was Native that told me whats up with the Ozone thing. If you do this AND use a QT then you shouldn't have a problem. |

| <====Looks at Becky *sighs* we need something in the Lib. about a QT setup... I hang my head in shame. Since I am not in a position where I am about reefing for 50% of the day or more, I have not been keeping up with much. I seem to have regained my knack for taking a few minutes to stare at the walls. I will dig up the disease thread and see if I can get a few links into the library! Now, cleaner shrimp and fish: Cleaner shrimp will eat at the damaged tissue left by parasites, if they get a parasite, I am sure it is coincidental. Cleaner fish...just QT and you are golden!

| wont cleaners (wrasse) eat themselves out of home? i've never owned one personally but wont they die when they run out of "parasites" to eat?
