Ich is an internal parasite, it will eat the white dots on the outside i think but not take care of the problem.

unless you are an experienced fish keeper, I would not recoomend a cleaner wrasse. they are typically hard to care for because of their VERY small mouths and picky eating habits.

I thought they were really rare until i went to my crappy LFS a few days ago and she had 4 of them. I had never seen one so it was pretty cool to see. It would be a nice addition to a tank but that is a long ways away.lol

if you dont mind blowing $25 on a cleaner shrimp, they do a good job of cleaning off fish. as long as you acclimate the shrimp correctly and there is nothing in your tank that has a taste for shrimp...they make a great addition to any reef tank. i had one that did a great job, would even jump onto my arm and clean it when i would reach in...then along came my coral banded shrimp and/or long nosed hawkfish and CHOMP CHOMP!! all gone.

Shrimps are awesome, we have a blood shrimp and skunk shrimp and they are most entertaining! i highly recommend them. However, it sounds like SaltySteve is trying to relieve his tank of ich, and truly the only way of ridding the system of it entirely is by running the tank "fish-less" for at least 6 weeks and treating all fish in QT either through hyposalinity (if you have a refractometer) or copper. Please correct me if I'm wrong guys as I have never had ich in my tank.

you could always dose your tank with "kick-ich". you can use it in reef tanks and it is not supposed to harm any corals, you just have to follow the directions. i tried it once but rushed it and didnt follow the directions like i should have...alot of people have had good results with it.
