Default sick fish?

i think my clown is sick.. its been swimming around with its mouth wide open and it looks like its lips are getting a little swollen and getting white.. im reading up on this and think its getting Cottonmouth diease.. i have read this can be treated with certain med's like MelaFix,Furan-2 and Maracyn Plus and stuff like that.. i do not have a QT tank and wanted to know if anyone used any meds in DT?

Hey Mike!

Sorry Im not reall up on fish problems like the one you are describing but I do know you have a Dino problem in your tank that could be doing all sorts of stuff to your water params. Might want to consider an inexpensive QT where you can use meds as you see fit.

I dont think its going to hurt your DT to treat there at this point but whats going on in there might be the source of the problem.

Stay plugged in and check the RB library for fish illnesses for any info that might help. Post some pics and I think we can summon a higher power for some advice. Sooner the better!

I have never had a QT tank, I know pretty dumb right, any how the meds you are wanting to use had no effect on my sick fish, I had one purple tang that wiped out my entire tank, lost about 28 fish. I will have a QT tank before doing my reef, be damned if I go through that again. I say the QT is the best way to go, then you can use any med that is out there on the market and have no worries about harming your corals and such
