I was thinking about getting one of these of putting him in my currently empty 29 gallon tank all buy himself. what do you think? I know that this fish is ruthless but I am a big fan of triggers and already have a 55 and 10 gallon reefs running

A trigger that is going to get upwards of 6 " + will not do well long term in a 29 gallon tank IMO.
