Default Undulate trigger

I was thinking about getting one of these of putting him in my currently empty 29 gallon tank all buy himself. what do you think? I know that this fish is ruthless but I am a big fan of triggers and already have a 55 and 10 gallon reefs running

A trigger that is going to get upwards of 6 " + will not do well long term in a 29 gallon tank IMO.

The undulated trigger is a hardy fish and a very very mean one as well. I would just be prepared to get a bigger tank once he starts to grow and plenty of rock as that trigger will like to hide and ambush other fish, but then if he is the only fish in the tank you may not see him much. I have one with a clown trigger and dog-faced puffer. Even though the clown is 2 inches bigger, he steers clear of the undulated trigger whenever possible.

cadlak-im glad to see that this fish can get along with other fish with out kill them. I had at one time considered putting him with some other fish in my 55 gal

Sizes Small/Around 1"-2"
Medium/Around 2"-3"

Range in Nature Indo-Pacific
Minimum Aquarium Size 20

ok that part of that is very wrong (the underlined) a 20 gallon would be wayyy to small for an undulated trigger.

i have an undulated trigger and he would be extremly cramped in a 20 gallon i would say mor elike a bare minimum of a 55 for him as they can get up to 9 to 10 inchs. mine is olny 4 and a half inchs right now and i have him in a 90 with a niger trigger. and the olny reason he wont pick on my niger trigger is because he is larger and can handle his own against the undulated, undulateds typicaly get more aggressive with age and growth (i have another tank for the niger if this happens) in my poinion if you are going to get an undulated trigger i would plan on houseing him in the 55 and be prepared that you may lose some of your fish. i like my undulated he is a very nice looking fish but as far as triggers go id get another niger again before i would get an undualted, ther undualted dont seam to have as much personality as the nigers the undualteds just seam to want to hide all the time
