Default Help Lion fish gaspting

Help, i bought a dwarf lion fish yesterday. when released in my tank after 1 and a half hour accumulation, he started acting like hes trying to spit something out, like how fishes act when they r hooked. he gasp rapitly and make that jet propulsion movement. is this a sight of stress that every lion go through or is there something `wrong with my lion. please give me some advice thankyou!

If your fish is gilling rapidly it may be caused by a low level of DO (Dissolved Oxygen) in which case you will want to check your tank aeration system for proper output.

It may also be caused by high levels of ammonia or nitrites.

Mine does that off and on...wierd. If it is consistant I would worry, how long has it been doing that?

lionfihs can not tollerate high levels of nitrates and ammonia, so make sure your levels are perfect! also, as ACE stated about DO.

well i dont think its DO because i have alot of water movement on the surface so theres bubbles and stuff ( i think that helps?) i think the situation is more similar to jgo1973. hes not exactly gilling for air... its more like "trying to spit something out" and he doesnt do it alot.. jus every now and then. my water looks good.

I think if he isn't doing it often, visually he looks good and he's eating hes probably ok.
