Default 2 puffers, i want to put together

can i get a 55 g and put a divider in it for my gsp and figure 8 would it be ok ? how messy do the dividers get? it will be high end brackish. they do good in it. the gsp ie 1 1/4 inches and the fig. 8 is 1 inch. I know I will need a bigger tank in the future. thanks

the figure 8 puffer is the brakish one?
The thing i dont like about dividers is that the the mess on the unfiltered side stays there.

I wouldn't do it either, unless you have a filter on both sides of the tank.

i was planing on a filter on both and cleaning the div. weekly to bi- weekly. they are both brackish, thought as they get older they will need more salt. both do great in full salt already but i'm slowly converting them. if it will stay clean with a filter on each side I'm good to go then. ty. I have to give them the 55 when i get it and use the 20g for the fowlr. they need the room sooner than i need a large sw tank. I got the fig. 8 in feb. and he is perfect. I've had the gsp for 2- 4 months and is very good concidering how large he is. thats way i bought him. I didn't want him in wal-marts for the rest of his life

I use to have a fig 8. They are such a cool fish. Everything I have read about them explains that the salinity shouldn't be more than 1.005. They are a light brackish water fish. Fresh and brackish water puffers should not be mixed between species. Just my 2 cents.
