Default Which wrasse is this?

Here is a fish that we frequently catch on a Sabiki rig while getting baitfish for King Mackeral. I have also caught it just bottom fishing with dead shrimp, cut squid or cut bait. I put it in my tank. It's about 6"-7" long. It buries itself in the sand from time to time.

These photos were taken while the fish was newly caught and mahor stressed out. It has since regained a lot of color.

What is it? Is it even a wrasse? Maybe a goby? Actually, I'm beginning to think it muight be a blennie.........

I got an identification on it. It is a Pearl Razorback, or maybe that's pearly razorback.

Seems content in reef tank. Why you say not reef safe?

Were there allot of them where it came from? ... did you pick it off of a reef? and was it with a net or did you go down there and see a bunch? ..... if your not positive its wild population isn't in decline it seems to me it should go back to where it came from .... Keeping the wild reef alive should be first concerned do some research on it..... It may be more important in its natural home .... otherwise ....... Great specimen I must say. My cousin brought me an endangered angel off the reef in the keys and i made him take it back down with him..... But i do have a little black goby with an orange tail i brought home form Puerto Rico hes great.... Just ... pay attention to your impact. Hes beautiful though.

Don't know about jackass, but you did come off as rather haughty.

FWIW, I came home a week ago and found "Sandy" (that was the name my daughter gave the pearly razorback) deader than a doornail on the floor. The dummy jumped out of the tank, but that's no big deal as I am quite certain I will unintentionally catch more of them when I go offshore fishing.

I live on the Georgia coast.
