Default Odd looking snail - Just showed himself

These guys blend in so well with the live rock, I just noticed them

They don't have a typical snail "carapace" or shell, in fact it looks somewhat soft.

Behavior: After switching on my 2nd Koralia 2 after a week of being off, i noticed these "snails" pumping their "eggs" into the new current like blasts from a shotgun. Think starship troopers. They cruise around sucking off rocks...

The first image just shows the head of one...

Any ideas?

The snails are Stomatella species that normally come in on live rock. Do a web search on them and you will see quite a few photos.

They are harmless herbivores feeding on microalgae. I have quite a few in my new reef setup. They are fast little buggers and quite prolific. They max out at about 3/4 of an inch.

They typically release eggs and sperm from a high point on your rocks in an area of high flow. The population should regulate itself based on how much algae is present.

In my two setups, they start out with a few, make a whole bunch of little ones and then level off at a reasonable number.
