Default Gulf of Mexico Fish???

Any idea what this is? Found it in a stone crab trap yesterday. I was thinking it's in the bass family or grouper family but I can't find a picture that matches it.

Thanks for the help. Reef Safe or not?

Soapfish, Rypticus sp.

Not particularily reef safe - will eat small fish and shrimp, and as their name implies, can release a foul substance from their skin.
