Can you post a picture of them? Sounds like either mushrooms, zoos or aiptasia anemones

They're aiptasia anemones. You don't want them in your tank. You can try Joe's juice to kill them. A peppermint shrimp will definitely get rid of them for you.

You don't want them in there because they spread quick and there sting will kill your tank inhabitants. They are typically considered a parasite anemone. If you have a needle syringe handy, inject it with calcium or lemon juice, then just vaccuum the body up. That should do the trick. Peppermint shrimp will eat small ones and prevent them from getting out of control, or if u have a enough room a Copperbanded Butterfly should do the trick too. Good luck

Had posted a few threads inquiring about my pests. The pictures from nemo are exactly what is on my LR.

Would like more detail how to get rid of them with lemon juice and a syring. Please help!!!!

Also, where do they come from and how would I prevent them from coming back. I have many. The one in the picture doesn't compare to the amount that I have.

Should I put several peppermint shrimp in the tank. Will any other clean-up crews help alleviate the problem.

Having cold feet with the syring and juice idea.

Thanking you in advance.

Diana

You simply inject the inside of the anemone with some lemon juice. Hopefully they'll die off. Above all don't try to pull them off the rocks. They will just grow back & spread. Normally they are hitchhikers on rock. Don't know how many you have in your tank or the size of it. I had a number of them in my tank - 1 shrimp cleaned them up & I haven't seen one since. Not aware of any other clean-up crew that finds them tasty.

Tank size is 20 gal. Wish I knew not to pull them off 2 weeks ago. They multiplied exactly like you said.

The number is approximately 20, should I kill one at a time or all at the same time.

How will the lemon juice affect the water parameters of my tank?

Please bear with me. I am a beginner and have been doing quite well. I appreciate you taking the time to reply as it seems a lot of other senior members don't want to be bothered with us beginners.

Tank has been established a year with only 1 death and tank good immediately after cycling.

Sure wish I had found this site 2 weeks ago.

Thanks!

Diana

Peppermint shrimp should eat the smaller ones, and keep their #'s in check. As for the bigger ones you can use a syringe and inject the stalk (not mouth) of the anemone with either lemon juice (will drop pH it is an acid) or calcium or kalkwasser (will raise pH). After this just let it die and siphon out the gray mess.
