Default Polyclad Flatworms (snail eaters)

The GF and I finally caught one of the two polyclad flatworms in the tank tonight...

One less snail killer in my tank

Check out the pic, these things get big, they are FAST and very hard to catch, they slime up and poof they are gone...

I've been having a lot of my snails die off. I can't figure out why tho.... All I know is in the morning I see my hermits snacking on a dead snail. How the hell do you know if you have one of these things? I've never seen one in my tank, but there's all kinds of stuff in my tank that I've never seen.....

I've only seen them out in the day once, it must have been really hungry, and as you can see, from the color/clear design they have, they blend in VERY WELL...

If your finding empty shells and such in the back corners of the tank, chances are you may just have one of these...

I've had good luck looking 1-2 hrs after halide lights go off...

Now if you can find one of these snails dead or half-dead, place it in the front of the tank, the Polyclad worm will smell or sense this and come looking for its "meal"

This is how I finally caught 1 of mine after trial and error.. I've got 1 more to catch (as far as I know just ONE)

Good Luck

Update us and let us know if you find anything....

Krazy K,
Wondering how big the flat worm was that you showed in the pic. Great picture by the way. Is there any thing that would feed on the flatworm, like a wrass? or nudibranch? Hope you have good success with your hunt.

It was a good 2-3 inchs, It could blob up to the size of a dime or stretch out large, Pretty interesting little thing...

I'm not aware of anything that would eat these...
