Default Some kind of algea???....

Today in my tank after coming back from South caralina for a week i found my tank full of algea(like you couldn't litterly see in it). After cleaning all of the glass i notice next to my zoos there was this algea stuff growing on a rock it looks gross swaying in the current and i want to know if it is bad or if it will kill or harm my coral in any way(should i get rid of it)....

Does it get bubbles in it as the day goes on? It looks like a type of cyanobacteria or brown diatom to me. It won't hurt your corals but it can keep spreading and look horrible. Try vacumming it out of the tank and skim heavy. If that doesn't work, there is a great product called Chemi-Clean that does a great job at getting rid of cyanobacteria.

this is caused by elevated phosphates it can and will start to choke your system phasphates are not allways testable often a snail or crab might pass and this is an indication of this low ph sometimes will bring this on two high ph will help in the healing prosess 1 look for dead animal 2 check phosphates 3 ad a phosphate removal medium even if nothing on test (be carful not all phosphate removals are feef safe) 4 up lyour ph allittle
