| You never want to have algae of any color, but in new setups or setups with dirty water, brown diatoms are common. If it is a new setup, they should disappear within a couple weeks. If it is a old setup, you should improve your water quality. If you start getting green (hair) algae growing on your rocks at any point, it is bad and you need to do something to control/eliminate it. |
