It sure sounds like aiptasia. I have heard of the boiling water method but have never tried. I have had success with aiptasia control. It is a gel calcium solution that you let sit on the aiptasia for a bit. You might want to also look into Joe's Juice. I have heard a lot of good about that stuff. For natural predators you can try the peppermint shrimp. werdurmanni lysmata sp?. not the pacifica. More to the point is the cause for the aiptasia. It needs to eat just like every thing else. I noticed all you had in the tank was a hermit. What all are you putting in as far as food and how often?

The tank is still cycling there is no food in the tank just the curing live rock and the diatoms, brown and green algae that is going on there are a lot of very small creatures swimming on the glass white things and there are some podtype creatures swimming around and of course some bristle worms....

| I had one that was perfectly clear also. One can become a problem, because they can multiply. You definitely need to try a chemical product like Joe's Juice (I used that and it worked great). If any part of the foot remains attached to the rock, it will grow back. It is funny. I am afraid to buy an anemone that I want, because I am not sure my conditions are perfect yet, but the little guys I don't want grow just fine! Last edited by anmacara103; 08-29-2007 at 08:25 AM. | The ones I "blasted away" have grown back. I will try Joes juice or something soon. The little clear ones are hard to see as I am in a green algae bloom at the moment in my tanks cycling. I am not too worried about them yet and I plan on getting some pepermint shrimp soon. I will try to get some good photos when the algae clears down a little. (algae bloom was my fault 2 1/2 weeks of 24 hr a day full lights was asking for it). -E |

there called glass anemone. I have them all over in my tank and they never harm or sting anything they are touching lethers and shrooms and a few other corals and dont bother them a bit. I have checked with my LFS about them and they also said harmless but they will spread if you try killing them without joes juice.

The bad thing is trying to remove them before they are dead. They will come apart and each little piece becomes a new anemone.Get a couple of peppermint shrimp to get the little ones and you get the big ones with joes juice.
