 Live Rock covered in something? Wish I had a pic. but here's my best description. 1 piece of live rock, originally Pacific rock...reddish brown in color. After a few months, it is completely covered in a hard white "shell" about 1/32 - 1/16" thick (Like an M&M with no color). You could chip it off with a chisel, but that's about it. My fish, inverts, and other rock are normal. No polyps, or coral heads, threads, anything coming off of it. Any clues? Thanks for the help! Last edited by sahibben; 08-31-2007 at 11:30 PM. | Re: Live Rock covered in something? Sounds like the coralline algae died off & you have the dead remains.

| Re: Live Rock covered in something? Just let it be, Coraline will grow back once the tank or lighting is corrected.

| Re: Live Rock covered in something? Whatever you do, DON'T use Purple Up. It will throw your pH out of whack.
