Default Tiny Problem Pest

Ok I know you would like photo's but these things are super tiny and I can't get a photo. They are covering every wall of my tank. They are tiny white dots smaller than the head of a pin. They are more like the size of the point of a pin. If I look very very carefully I can see tiny tiny little arm radiating from them, I can't count and it seems to vary. However watching snails eating on the sides of the glass when they come in contact with them they pull away sharply like being stung. Unfortunately I have thousands of them on my walls. Anyone have a clue what they are? They have been there for about a 2 weeks. I want to get rid of them.

I believe they are Cnidarians of some sort. I think what I will have to do is vacuum them as I scrape the glass. Unfortunately I can't get every part of the tank so I will just have to repeat as I go. Not sure if there is anything that would eat them. Crabs and snails have just left them alone.

my only guess is going to involve a major water change. I guess I will try to scrape them off as many sides as I can while vaccuuming the water right next to the side I am scraping.

Well the problem is more widespread and I can't get to all the sides. Haven't started but turned off the pumps to get a good look at things. I won't be able to remove them all. I can only hope to thin the numbers down. I guess I will try to research to see if anything can eat these guys.

Does anyone think a UV unit would kill them. I am guess I could buy one and stir them up to get them into the UV unit to kill them if that sounds like it would work.

Geez! I have no idea what they are. Doesn't sound fun at all. I think what you are doing sounds good. Hopefully someone will be along soon who knows what the little buggars are.

Well I just took a small vaccuum and I made about a 1/2 to 2/3 dent in them I will take a small brush and try to reach places where I couldn't reach and stir them up and hopefully move them to the fornt or other areas and do repeat the process to weed them down to as small of an amount as possible. I guess what I will do is repeat said process every 5 gallon change. I did 10 gallon change this time trying to get them down to a more manageable amount. I will probably do this again mid week. They are problematic little buggers. They probably number in the thousands.

I believe I have the same thing. they did not appear until I added my snails though. I have not seen them bother the snails though. The sanils continue to do what they do. Did you ever get rid of all of them?

I have a much smaller amount then previously but I still have some in the tank. I will keep working on them and I am sure in a year or so they will be extinct from the tank. It's a war with them but I am slowly gaining the upper hand.
