Identification What in the heck is growing on my glass, corals, etc. Not sure what it is? Post here and we'll see if we can figure it out!

Default What kind of Polyp is This???

The people I trust the most what did I buy for 19.99? The only thing it said on the tank was polyp, I would like to know if it was worth the $$$?? I do like it alot so some help from everyone would be nice. Thanks everyone Sorry have to show pics first lol...

looks like button zooanthids to me.

Definately a zoo of some kind..could be a palythoa. If the stalks are independent, it's a paly; if the stalks are attached to a common base, it's not a paly, but rather some type of zoo. All palys are zoos, but not all zoos are palys. I have some that look like that too and I identified them as palys. Be careful...palythoas have the most toxic organic substance known on the planet and there is no known antidote. If you gotta get into the tank, and you have a cut on your hand/finger, use gloves. You may want to be careful in placing them next to more sensitive corals, as they can emit toxins as a defense mechanism.

looks like a button to me. after a few weeks when they get a little larger, if the outside startsd to turn a little more of a red color, it is a button.

Thanks everyone for the help, I sure wont be sticking my hand in the tank with a cut if these things are that toxic. Thanks for letting me know that my son helps me with the tank all the time sure dont want anything to happen to him.

They definetly look like zooanthids, and they are on a nice looking piece of live rock.

Thanks for the complement on the rock I hope these things spread all over the rock, I really like them and they were only 19.99 so didnt think i could go wrong
