Default New Growth!

50 gal FOWLR
yellow Tang
2 cleaner shrimp

Hey fellow Reefers! The tank has been running since June and I am finally getting some good algae growth. When I was buying LR I picked a piece that had some good Coraline on it and it has started to spread pretty good. Even on the back of one of the snails!

Q is... What is the reddish algae growing in the sand/crushed rock? I have not noticed it on any of the LR yet. Good/Bad?

Crushed coral is more trouble than it is worth. You will be having periodic outbreaks of red slime/ cyanobacteria(which is what I am seeing in your pics). RyanG has posted a sticky in the beginners forum which is quite useful. Check it out.
