| Re: reddish brown algae? Amanda I noticed that you asked this question in more than one forum. I deleted it from the aggressive fish only forum because it belongs here. Is this algae slimy in texture. If you took a turkey baster to it, would it separate? Is it on your substrate or rocks? Or is this merely a film up against your glass close to your sand bed (assuming you have a sand bed)? Please take the time to look at some of the photos other members here have provided in this forum on this topic. Thanks! |

| Re: reddish brown algae? Hmmm, if it is just a film on your glass and is not covering the sand and other tank infrastructure, I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone gets some color along the galss in and right above the sand bed, but if you moved the sand a little, you would see that it is not in the sand, it would just be stuck to the glass. Red slime is something else and it spreads quickly. |

| Re: reddish brown algae? no slim its rather dry felling to be under water. It looks like the line of film on the glass under the sand. Is this good or should i get rid of it. I'll get a disposable camera soon |

| Re: reddish brown algae? It is OK. You can scrape what is above the sandbed surface just to keep you glass clean. It will not hurt anything. |
