Default brown algae all over sand

this is taking over the 10g. the tank is located in front of a full window. dumb, right? well i thought thick black curtains would keep it safe. I need to get a back ground for it. will that fix the issue? i'm working with little placement options here, but will re-arrange apt. if needed, lol.
If i kill the algae will it mess up the chemistry? I've never had algae out break more than a small spot. is there anything i should watch for?

I would paint the back black or a dark blue(thats what I did to mine). Also make sure your using Good water as well as water changes often. If an option turn off tanks light for a couple of days.If cycling tank you will get an algae bloom (part of the process).
Hope this helps still kinda new to reef tanks..

Again, I need parameters. I'd like to know everything, especially phosphates and nitrates (still at 20ppm?), but also KH...and I like numbers, not something that says "ideal" (which means that you may want to invest in a Salifert or Sera kit when you get enough money). I want to know how long those lights are on for; if you are feeding something in the tank. Heck, you can even give us a rundown of your equipment...that way we can start pinpointing problem areas.

I don't want you to think that I am picking on you. Everyone who has an issue with algae, sick fish, sick coral NEEDS to be providing this info. It helps us help you faster!

And yes, you may paint the back of your tank.
