Default Black thread-like organism on live rock

Hello Everyone!
This is my first post on this forum and I am excited to get to know everyone. My husband are new to this hobby (about 2 months). We moved into a place that had an empty 29 gal in the wall and we decided to take the plunge.
Our tank is a 29 gal fish only. We have 8lbs live rock and 8lbs of base rock with live sand. The current children are: 1 yellow damsel, 1 royal dottyback, 2 blue-green chromis, and 2-3 (can't find one) blue legged hermit crabs. These fish were bought as starter fish.
We just did a water change this weekend and today we noticed a black thread-like, coarse hair, just one, about 1.5 to 2 inches in length that popped up over night on one piece of live rock. It is a little stiff in shape, but will wave in the current when the powerhead was pointed at it.

Thanks if anyone can help! I'm sure to be on here quite a bit since we just bought a used 60 gal cube that we eventually will turn into a reef.

p.s. Sorry about the pics. The first is a top down view, and the others we had to put a white background behind it in order for it to show up in the pictures.

Sometimes you'll get spaghetti worms in the rock - could be that but I've never seen a black one - usually red. Does it retract itself?

No, it doesn't retract. Last night I came home from work and found it just laying on the sand. This morning it was in the same spot. It hasn't moved, changed shape, withered, or anything else. It was on the damsel's rock, so I think maybe he knocked it off or one of the blue legged crabs. I'm just watching it now to see what it will do.

Or perhaps it just may be a piece of coarse black thread!! Stranger things have happened.
