Default Coraline algea

I have one little spot of red coraline algea. My question is I also have spots that look like coraline algea but it is green. Can coraline algea be green or is it always red.

well, bad algae is soft and flexible. Coraline algae is anything but flexible and soft. It is a hard calcerous algae that is very beneficial to any saltwater tank. I only had green and a little bit of pink coraline in my 55 when I started it. Now, 3 years later, All my glass is covered with pink, and I have to scrub the front at least once a week to keep the pink coraline from growing on the front part of my tank. Just make sure your calcium levels are good, and wait.

It is harder to the touch and it takes work to scratch it away from surfaces.

I've got white, green, light purple, and this really nice deep purple thats really taking off. Or was before the sandstorm. Should be cleared up by tomorrow, then Im adding some seeded LS tomorrow and will clean off the rock. Pics in the blog, hope the deep purple stuff is still thriving.

Well, most people here are lacking a degree in marine biology. But, I will supply you with a link on just about all of the algae families that way you can do a little independent research.
