Identification What in the heck is growing on my glass, corals, etc. Not sure what it is? Post here and we'll see if we can figure it out!

Icon14 unknown leather???

Anyone have any clue what kind of leather this is??? I want to know so I find where I should place it in tank(light and current)???

it looks to me like a sacrophton leather. a very very small one that has not grown a a mushroom shape yet... i cant tell you for sure though, try to keep in the middle area like other leathers, not much current. if starts to faid away raise it up higher and feed it more...

The larger, dark spots on the coral makes me think that it is NOT a sacrophyton (toadstool) leather. Is there polyps that come out of it? Where did you find/get it? Do you know if it was growing on the top side of the rock or the bottom side of the rock?

Nothing comes out of it. That's exactly how it is under water. My LFS gave it to me. It was on the top side of the rock.
