Identification What in the heck is growing on my glass, corals, etc. Not sure what it is? Post here and we'll see if we can figure it out!

Does anyone have an idea of what this tube thing might be? it stays stuck on the rock is it just part of the rock? Never seen anything come out of it but it is new

yep, looks like a tube worm...sometimes they are hard to see, you'll see a very fine fan like thing at the end, almost like an eyelash, look for more popping up on your live rock

They often drop their crowns so do not worry if you do not see it right now. You can feel it inside the tube though. If it get to stresses it will come out of its tube and crawl away and either make a new tube or die.

well the rock was bought locally so it went out of tank to weight to bag to my tank...after a quick saltwater rinse....i figure it is dead though there are several not just the one of those tube things on my rock amd when u say feel it u mean if i touched the tube?

I wouldn't touch it, it could damage the tube which is the tube worms home. They are very common and I am sure you will eventually get more. some additives like "Black Powder" help to encourage the growth of many types of small creatures such as tube worms. I know I have notice a difference in the critters in my tank with it.
