no those are not aiptasia, they look a little bit like a majano anemone (which is also a pest) but if i could see a pic of their mouth I would say it more closely resembles a duncan coral which is very nice!

I would call the LFS he got it from and see if they remember, because if it is a pest, you do not want it, they are fine if you have a FOWLR tank, but if you have a reef, they will do some damage to your corals. I wish I knew what it was, but I just converted my FOWLR to a reef tank, I have to learn more about the species myself. check out my photos, leave a comment (good/bad) just would like someones opinion, thanks. good luck

It's not an aiptasia and I don't think it is a majano anemone either. Do you have a pic from the top of the coral/anemone and how does it react when disturbed (close up VERY quickly, pull back into the rock, etc...)?

It very quickly closes with it's disturbed. This is the best pic I could get of the top

I do have several corals so I'm not interested in pest species in there.

Looks like the below

Master Mind Flayer Zoa

Your lucky to have one if this indeed what it is!

Then again it could just be a couple of Atlantic Rock Anemones.
