I got a 60 gallon fish only. I'm about to replace my cannister filter with a protein skimmer and figure out what else I have to do before I can introduce live rock to the aquarium.

well first i would like to replace my existing filter with a skimmer, thats my #1 priority right now. then eventually i would like to add live rock but i want to make sure that i don't do anything that would mess up the tank. i guess i'm really cautious. but at the same time live rock will be pretty expensive so i'm not trying to rush it since i don't have the funds ready to buy a bunch right now.

i understand not having the funds, but you can buy pre-cured live rock, which shouldn't add to much shock to your tank that would cause you to need a protien skimmer, plus the LR bacteria helps the tank and all the inhabitants.

cool, maybe i will introduce live rock soon. i thought live rock was hard to maintain, or maybe i'm thinking of the corals. Aquarium Systems Seaclone Protein Skimmer- 150 is the skimmer i'm looking at right now, any advice on which kind of skimmers would be best for my 60 gal tank? i'd perfer to have a hang on type skimmer but i'm open to the different types.
