Default Newbie from NC

Hello all
About a month ago I finally gave in to a long time desire to start a SW aquarium. Wow what an experiance it has been. I started with a 29 gal mainly cause of space and financial limitations. I'm already yearning to go bigger. For now it's a fowlr tank. May stay that way. If I decide to venture in to reef I will definately go with a bigger tank.
The tank has cycled and has approx 16 lbs of LR with live sand substrate. Have more rock curing in a salt vat and adding it slowly. No fish yet but do have 3 blue leg hermits, 3 turbo snails, 2 peppermint shrimp, and 1 narsissus snail (all my LFS had). Thinking of adding a fish or 2 this weekend if I can make up my mind what to get.

Welcome to the reef Woody! SW is really fascinating and once you get everything set-up and running it is fairly easy to get the hang of it fast. Good to hear you are taking it slow with the cycling, that is the most important part in ensuring that the ecosystem will not crash later on without warning. Props on the slow addition of the cured LR too, you must have read up plenty on this hobby before initiating.. Perfect! Once you make a decision on what fish you would like, we would love to see some pictures posted up of your new DT.

Hi and welcome!
I have a 29gal biocube that I just set up about a month ago. I would recommend getting more of the nassarius snails as they will help move your substrate around and the best part...when you feed your fish, they will all come crawling out like night of the living dead! I love watching them!
Best of luck!

Welcome to RB Linwood! I'm also glad to hear that your tank has been set up for a month without any fish yet. Taking things slow will save you many frustrations.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I look forward to getting to know all of you and what I can learn. I'm planning on getting more nassarius snails. When I picked up my other one it was the only one my LFS could find in their tanks. They were running low on all their SW livestock but they are ecpecting a shipment in soon.
