Default 1st Post Here @ RB

This is my 1st Post Here @ RB. I've been doing this reefing thing since July 2001 with some success and lots of disasters.

I just tore down this 256g glasscages tank (65x36x25):

to install a 135 AGA rimless tank (still lots of work to do on it):
The new tank plan is:

Tank

36"x36"x24" Custom AGE with two viewable sides being Starfire and a 24"x6"x6" external overflow

Sump

Custom 48"x24"x17" by PimpedOutAquariums

Lighting

Display: 1x400w 20K Radium w/VHO actinics, T-5s and LEDs
Frag tank: Retro 4 bulb T5 rig on an IceCap ballast

Skimmer

Royal-Exclusiv Alpha 250 Cone.

Flow

In tank - two VorTech MP40s
Return pump is an Ehiem that ran my old Deltec AP702
Additional flow in the frag tank section of the sump will be done by a Tunze 6080

Front

Side

Custom sump with built in frag tank:

Hello and welcome to RB I am curious as to why you tore down your 256 gal tank. Sure looked fabulous to me. I am very new to reef building. Did you just want a smaller tank? Thanks Jeanne

Was never happy with it and now my kids are getting older (6 & 8) I need to refinish the basement and share my man cave with the rest of the family. At lease I get a new 47" TV out of it.

Sold all of them except:

Powder Blue
Tomini
pair of African Banded Pipefish
pair of Picasso Clowns
Mandarin

then I added 11 fish that wiped out everything but the 2 tangs 1 clown and 1 pipefish (a midas blenny out of the 11 new fish survived).

I do not have room for a QT set up - I have never had an issue in the 8 years I have been doing this - until now.

When I have the tank stocked with my 'list' of fish there will be ~30+ fish in there. I have an overszed skimmer and will be doing 20+% water changes weekly.

Ah then that explains everything precisely, the whole breakdown and re-setup thing. Sorry to hear about all those consecutive losses, pretty rough I would imagine. At least your frags are not on the short side, they all look great! Keep those pics and updates coming Leishman!
