Hello all,
Joined a couple days ago and have learned so much already. I thought I would have a tank up and running in no time After reading so much and thinking what I would like the end result to be it will be quite awhile before I have all the pieces of the puzzle together before attempting to get livestock and hoping that I have enough knowledge to keep my *precious* safe

The main thing is to learn everything you can before buying all of your equipment and setting your tank up. You don't want to waste your money on buying junk that you'll end up replacing later. Some things, like a sump or changing out substrate, are really difficult or time consuming once everything is up and running. One thing that you'll learn is that it takes alot of time to get a reef tank fully grown out, especially if you start out with coral frags. Don't rush the initial setup process and before purchasing equipment and setting your tank up, post what you're thinking about getting and get some feedback.

After reading so many posts and doing some research I think I know what my 56 Gal high will be...The dimensions for my tank are 30"L x 18"D x 25" high. I wanted it as a FO tank and after looking at Live rock and what can be attached to it I was like oh wow...(please note that after some reaseach "oh wow" comes from the north midwest *JK* my family says it at least once a sentance) I want that.
Anyway my setup would be...

Either a 400W MH light in the middle or two 175W MH lights setup going the width of the tank.
AquaC Remora Pro w/Rio 1400 pump
Rena X2 Canister Filter (I have 18" of space in my stand otherwise would go sump)
Also from all of the comments that I gathered I will be getting a RO/DI system because I am on a well system
Lastly I will be getting LR from Tampa Bay because it doesnt hurt the enviroment.

I wanted a FO system at first because I wanted something right now but because I know I will enjoy this alot more if it is done right and no living organisms perish due to me I will be happier. It may take me 6 months to a year to get it running and trust me I will definitly post pics as I get the equipment in!!
