Default Just starting out

Hello All:

My name is Roy and I am interested in setting up a salt water aquarium.
I would like to setup a FOWLR&LS tank.
I know a little about freshwater setups but nothing about saltwater.
Today I purchased "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist" by Robert Fenner
For now I am in the "homework" phase.
Are there any other websites or books that would be helpful in the learnig phase. This site seems very thorough.

Thanks in advance for your help

Awesome, you do homework! Since you are in your Bob Fenner phase, you can always check out Wetwebmedia, Aquarium, Pond, Marine and Freshwater Fish, reef tanks, and Aquatics Information, one of my haunts.

Aaah, the Phoenix area. I have a good friend out there. I hope it is not too hot out there for ya!

Welcome!

Becky

Hi Becky:

Thanks for the info. I went to the aquarium store today and it was really impressive.
I think I can do it. One question though.
I doubt my wife will forego vactions in the future and I am wondering what to be aware of when being gone for a week or so.
We usually take long weekend trips but may go for longer. Will this be a problem?

Long weekend trips or a couple weeks here and there.
No matter what, someone needs to be around to top off your tank so that the evaporation doesn't mess with your salinity. You can get an automatic feeder for feeding. I had someone stop by to do it all because of the corals. I was gone for 10 days, lost 2 fish out of it.

Pheonix is always 10 degrees hotter than us. I think I could handle that increase, I like that area much better than here!!! IKEA and Arizona Mills make me feel like I still might be part of civilization!

I like Baltimore, too. However, I am an Illinoisan.
