Default A Little Late on the Intro

Hey everybody,

I meant to add a thread to this a while ago and then forgot, so I'm a little behind.

My name is Liz, and I'm 19 and ecstatic because we just bought a great reef set up. Unfortuantely my parents do the "let's do it tomorrow" routine so nothing really gets done until I pull the teenage girl act and bug them until they surrender. That's how we got the new tank

I don't know the exact specs of my tank but here's what I do know

55g tank (ugly) with stand (even uglier)
metal halide lighting
skilter (yes that's spelled right) for the past 4 years, cyclone skimmer as of last night
powerheads of some sort (duh)

The animals are in my signature.

The new tank is a 56tall Reef Ready system that I am SO excited for.

I have recieved 90% control of design and aquascaping, so I came here to get some much needed help!

My plan is to trade in the damsel (he's gotten to be a handful) and get a mated pair of jawfish, two clownfish with an anenome, and maybe one or two other fish.

I also want mushrooms, zoos, leather, gorgonians etc etc etc.

I know its going to be years before this is finished...but isn't that how it always goes?

I've been getting great information so far and am happy I joined!

Yeah, my deal is that the floors have to be refinished before the new tank is set up...but my mom just hems and haws over which company to use or if we should do it ourselves...and here I am jumping up and down saying PLEASE!! I'll do it for free!!

I just want my new tank to get set up!!

Nope we just bought it a week ago and its sitting empty infront of our 55g tank right now. My parents are ridiculous...they buy a brand new skimmer...and didnt even think to put it on the current tank. I had to do it last night because I'm getting sick of our water quality. Skilters are useless and should be banned from saltwater aquariums! I don't think I've ever seen one on someone else's tank.

I've been bugging my dad about an RO/DI unit, and I think I have succeeded in getting him to agree that it would be a great investment. Now I just have to come up with the money to buy one.
